Abstract:
Digital storytelling is a cornerstone of water management decisions and community engagement in solutions development. As data from all aspects of our lives grows exponentially, ensuring we can make sense of the information at our fingertips is becoming increasingly important.
Communities around the world are facing extreme challenges, from diminishing water supplies to the cascading effects of climate-related events. The data and information surrounding these problems and solutions are often complicated and inaccessible—not only to those impacted but also to decision-makers.
Bridging the divide between art, design, storytelling, and data is essential in the face of wicked problems. By integrating these disciplines, we can transform complex datasets into accessible, engaging narratives that resonate with diverse audiences. This interdisciplinary approach helps democratize information, foster empathy, and empower communities to take informed action in all water systems.
This session will illustrate how the fusion of art and data can drive meaningful change through case studies and real-world water management examples.
