Saddle up for the post-symposium shindig! Extend your stay in the beautiful Ponderosa Pines with a camp out at Dogtown Lake. BYO camping gear, campsites have been reserved in advance! Carpooling is HIGHLY encouraged. Opt in for a river kitchen-style dinner on Friday night. Saturday, choose your own adventure followed by dinner at Historic Brewery in Williams (dinner not included in field trip cost)! For the extreme adventurer, hop in a side by side with SRP to check out a flume in the woods. Or, get your steps in with Abe Springer and visit Big Spring (sturdy footwear, outdoor clothing, and plenty of water recommended). A third option is to explore the Williams area water resources with Don Bills. Post-daytime activities, meet up at Historic Brewing Company for dinner, then head back to camp for a jam out under the stars. Depart at your leisure Sunday morning.

Friday, arrive at Dogtown Lake in Williams, AZ after 4:00 and check in with the camp host. Set up camp. Optional dinner served at 18:30.

Saturday 8:00 AM: choose your adventure (breakfast & packed lunch provided):

Option 1: Side x Side to the FLUME:

  • This will require a sense of adventure!

  • Wear sturdy shoes & adequate attire for off-roading (pants, long sleeves).

  • Short hike (<0.5 Mile)

  • Bring plenty of water

Option 2: Hike to BIG SPRING with Abe

  • Car pool to trailhead
  • Bring plenty of water
  • Wear sturdy shoes/outdoor attire
  • Involves creek crossings (water shoes or sandals recommended
  • 7.5 miles round trip decending about 200 feet in elevation down rocky trail

Option 3: Explore Williams water resources and BASALT COLUMNS in Sycamore Canyon

  • Car pool to well sites and hydrological/geologic locations of interest

Saturday night

  • Dinner in town at Historic Brewing Company

  • Return to camp for another night of camping under the stars

  • Bring an instrument or your dancing shoes!

  • Depart Sunday A.M. at your leisure.
