The November meeting of the Flagstaff Chapter of AHS will feature a talk and discussion about the Impacts of the Dragon Bravo and White Sage Wildfires on North Rim Water Resources.

Hear Dr. Abe Springer (Professor of Ecohydrogeology at the School of Earth and Sustainability at Northern Arizona University), Hannah Chambless (Hydrologist with the National Park Service), Robert Rickey (Science and Operations Officer / Incident Meteorologist with the National Weather Service), and John Noll (AHS Member and Flagstaff Geologist and Volunteer NPS Ranger) talk about:

  • the status of the wildfires;
  • the fire progression and weather influences on fire development;
  • surface drainages most impacted by the fires;
  • the Grand Canyon water system and efforts to monitor and protect it from future damage;
  • North Rim springs and their role in ecosystem recovery;
  •  the NPS plan for promoting overall recovery.
